RP Data: Investment opportunities in Sydney as market predicts value rise

The latest research blog post from RP Data highlighted the results of a recent survey, which illustrated that 74 per cent of respondents thought now was a great time to purchase property in Australia.

Of the respondents from Sydney, 63.2 per cent believed now could be a great time to purchase property, which could be great news for anyone considering the sale of their Inner West property in the near future.

Furthermore, just 51 per cent of respondents said they thought dwelling values were going to rise over the next six months. Another 57 per cent believed that value growth could grow over the next 12 months.

"Clearly Australians remain positive about the direction of dwelling values, however most respondents who think values will rise over the coming six and twelve months have fairly measured expectations of value growth with most suggesting values are likely to rise by less than 5 per cent over the coming year," said Tim Lawless, research director for RP Data, in a October 24 statement.

"While most respondents think values will continue to rise, it is interesting to note that most respondents are also concerned about the sustainability of dwelling values."

Sixty per cent of respondents highlighted concern about the sustainability of the housing market, where people thought the real estate landscape could change in the coming years.

However, 61 per cent of respondents from Sydney believed rent was set to rise, which could be of interest to potential property investors in the region.

With an ongoing recovery underway across the nation, now could be the perfect time to purchase investment property in Sydney. Securing a slice of the New South Wales capital before the projected population boom could be a beneficial addition to any investor's property portfolio.
