Get involved with the Sydney Inner West GreenWay

The GreenWay in Sydney's Inner West is a green corridor that runs all the way from the Cooks River to Iron Cove, and can provide a great place for you and your family to spend a weekend admiring Mother Nature's beauty.
This public facility provides an off-road cycle and pedestrian walkway that has been integrated with the Inner West Light Rail, which is another vital piece of public transport infrastructure found in the region.
There are a wide range of drawcards for visiting the area, whether as a passerby or a more permanent resident in the Leichhardt real estate market.
Watching the fauna
According to the GreenWay website, there are around 239 different species of birds, 31 species of reptiles, 31 mammals, 10 species of frogs and two species of fish that live in the region. If watching animals in their natural habitat is a hobby, this could be a dream come true!
Not only are many of these species native to Australia, but they're all possible to see throughout the area, making it a rewarding, satisfactory journey to the GreenWay regardless of your intentions.
Wildlife enthusiasts might be lucky enough to find the Eastern Blue Tongue Lizard, Rainbow Lorikeet or New Holland Honeyeater simply within the space. While these are common in other places around the country, finding them in the Inner West - and suburbia in general - can be a harder task to come across.
Community Partnerships
There are also a number of groups within the community that you can join to help preserve the natural beauty of the GreenWay. For example, the Bushcare group are volunteers who get together and maintain the area and restore vegetation.
