Lose yourself in the Inner West

Getting lost is often not the most ideal of situations, but the Leichhardt Open Studio Trail forms an acronym that embraces the very notion.

LOST coincides with Art Month every March, and 2014 is no exception. Whether you live in Inner West real estate or are keen to experience the charm of Balmain, Leichhardt and the gorgeous suburbs in between, be sure to get involved in this interactive event.

The open trail sees artists open up their creative worlds to curious locals, eager to view their workspaces and be stimulated.

Artists, craftspeople and designers alike all take part in the LOST weekend, which runs from March 8-9, from 10 am until 3:30 pm. In addition, local galleries also open their doors to curious visitors.

The event provides a rare glimpse into many otherwise private spaces - an impressive 40 of them! Free workshops are also on offer, for those who gain insight from the open trail and wish to put their creative ability to the test.

Balmain property is ever-increasing in popularity, and inclusive events like these certainly help foster the increased demand. The creation of a community mosaic at LOST is just one way to get involved with local residents.

Guided bicycle tours are also offered, for those who'd like to make the journey from Rozelle, along Darling Street, through Balmain before dipping into Lilyfield and Leichhardt on wheels rather than by foot.

The content on offer will be diverse, so there's certainly something for everyone. Whether it's bold street art, painting, impressive sculpture, ceramics, flute making, captivating photography or delicate silk-screen printing, the range of mediums and genres turns the weekend into an artistic smorgasbord of colours, textures and insights.

The council is encouraging you to "get LOST in Leichhardt" in March - but there are maps available if you want to ensure you don't miss out on any must-see creative spaces!
