Illoura Park Grand Opening: Seeing the parks on offer in Sydney's Inner West

Owners of Balmain property have another reason to celebrate living in the Inner West suburbs, with the grand opening of the Illoura Park being held on February 1. The park recently received a $30,000 upgrade to help breathe life into the area.
The Leichhardt Council has been putting the final touches on the park, which will be officially reopened at 10 a.m.alongside some morning tea and refreshments. With the opening of the Illoura Park, the region is now home to a wide range of different recreational spaces including Coopers Agency's Gala Auction Events, the first being the following Saturday 15th February.
2-8 Weston Street
A recent addition to the Balmain park circuit, this park was opened back in August 2012 and has become a staple of the area ever since. The council invested $15.8 million into the areas development, which is located adjacent to the Darling Street Wharf.
One of the most striking features of the park is the restoration of the 1880s Fenwick Stone Building and was helped along through the use of a New South Wales Heritage Grant. If you're interested in seeing a piece of restored history, this park could be the best place to start.
Gladstone Park
Gladstone Park is one of the most popular parks in the suburb and features a playground for children, as well as a number of picnic areas and a basketball court to help encourage an active, healthy lifestyle.
Located right next to the Balmain Hospital and Darling Street, the centrality of the park makes it perfect for anyone looking to get back to nature during their lunch break, or for those with restless children who need to let out some energy.
Punch Park
In keeping with the promotion of a healthy lifestyle, Punch Park features two full-sized tennis courts that are open to the public. These courts could provide an opportunity to test out your backspin and practise your serves, while friends or family members watch from the covered seating area.
